The vehicle is turning into a software platform that happens to have wheels – continuously updated, permanently connected, and increasingly defined by what runs on it rather than what is bolted into it. That shift is rewriting how teams are structured, how compliance is demonstrated, and which engineers get pulled onto the interesting programmes. Very few engineers can currently hold the whole picture: the networks, the in-car architecture, the software layers, and the regulatory questions OTA updates raise. This cohort builds that picture.
